[this will be a shorter-than-usual chapter as we’re prepping for a month-long trip to Europe…]
I began my previous blog chapter by mentioning that I was recently asked about the legacy I hoped to leave behind. A few nights ago, I got a preview of at least part of it.
Hillary and I actually got out of the house and went to an outdoor concert in town. We had purchased the tickets back in April, but we both started to dread going as the date got closer. Large crowds in general have become difficult for us, and thinking about making small talk with folks we haven’t seen in many years, with loud music playing in the background, made it seem even more daunting.
Since the Covid years, with the added factor of having taken a few more trips around the sun, it has become oh so easy just to stay home. But that realization became the exact motivation for us to go.
I am extremely grateful we did. It was fun! Just a bunch of old hippies like us!
We did indeed run into LOTS of people we hadn’t seen in decades, many of whom were ex-practice folks. And they all had amazingly lovely things to say to us - things they never told us back then.
Just a few examples:
“I miss you and your office so much. It always felt so loving, supportive and welcoming. I always felt so safe and so seen – that I mattered!”
“You guys made such an incredible difference for me and for my family back then.”
“I still remember my first adjustment. WOW! I cried! I didn’t realize how much I was holding until that moment…”
“Coming to you guys was the beginning of my spiritual journey.”
“I don’t think I would still be here without you guys.”
Chiropractic friends, please know that you are undoubtedly having more of an impact on your peeps than you tend to think. Every single time you have adjusted someone with presence, love and intention, you made a huge deposit into the legacy you will leave behind.
Much of my legacy will undoubtedly be based on adjusting folks, yes, but mostly it will be based on the love that we gave and received freely. So, if you’re not a chiropractor, that same kind of legacy is more than available to you, too.
Pretty cool, eh?
Stew on that, and I shall see you next time (though I am not sure exactly when that will be).
We offer everything we do on a “love offering/pay the most your heart dictates” basis, just as we did in our chiropractic office. So, if this blog nurtures your soul and you’d like to give something back in exchange, send us an email at bittmanbliss@att.net.
