Chapter 41: Get the Idea

It is time once again to Stew on this! In this season of light, what ideas could you and I entertain that would bring us not only more hope and joy, but more excitement, direction, inspiration?

Here in my neck of the woods, winter began at 7:03 this past Sunday morning. The Winter Solstice was a source of great joy and hope in ancient times. It represented the symbolic victory of the light over the dark; the “return of the light.” This formed the foundation for most of the holidays we celebrate at this time of the year.

Lots of folks I know have a hard time with the short, dark days. For most of them, things start getting “better,” meaning more hopeful and joyful, as soon as the days begin getting longer. This was undoubtedly true for the ancients as well. This is interesting to me, since the increase in daylight is negligible for several weeks after the Solstice. In addition, the coldest, the stormiest and, especially for our ancient ancestors, the most-likely-to-starve days still lay ahead.

Apparently, the hope and joy come from the IDEA of the light returning. This points to a basic truth: our experience of life is a direct reflection of the ideas we hold in our mind.

Perhaps this is at least part of what BJ Palmer meant when he said, “Get the idea; all else follows.” (Most people quote BJ as having said, “Get the big idea; all else follows,” but it is possible the “big” part was assumed and added later)

So, in this season of light, what other ideas could you and I entertain that would bring us not only more hope and joy, but more excitement, direction, inspiration, and fulfillment as well?

Here is one, and it is the biggest idea I know…YOU! And me, too! Yes, through our oneness with Innate Intelligence, we are each the biggest idea I know of.

How? We are all more than enough, just the way we are and just the way we show up. We are the avenue though which love, peace and joy come into this world. We ARE love, peace and joy! We have gifts in our hands and in our hearts that can make love, peace and joy more accessible to others, and to make anyone and everyone’s life better, in beautiful and mysterious ways. We hold an intention to share those gifts with as many people as we can, and are willing to do “the work” so we can serve and live more from the heart.

We are all much bigger, brighter, bigger, and more beautiful than we tend to think! And the bigger the idea we hold of our Self and of our own bigness, beauty and more-than-enoughness, the more we can love, serve and give from our fullness and abundance. The more we allow this big idea to grow in our awareness and in our actions, the more we can stay on purpose and make the kinds of choices we would always choose to make.

So, happy holidays to all! My intention for 2026 is to realize more of the big idea that I am so I can help others to “get” the big idea for themselves.

I know in my heart of hearts that all else truly follows.
