Chapter 35: Your Universal Bank Account
My journey from a consciousness of lack to one of abundance has been a long, strange trip indeed. I am still on the journey, but these days I am a hell of a lot closer to “A-Bun-Dance” than to I am to “Scare-City.” (I got those from Steve Bhearman, AKA Swami Beyondananda)
Around 20 years ago, when Scare-City was still a more familiar place, and when Safe Haven Chiropractic was operating with a box on the wall, I began to get frustrated. I had proclaimed that I would be “taken care of” if I gave my gift away freely, and that is exactly what happened. We were being taken care of, almost to the penny. We were managing to pay the bills, but it was always stressful, and we had zero savings.
I shared my concern with Dr. Dick Santo, one of my main mentors. He assured me that I had another bank account; one that was a truer expression of my financial state than my regular one was. He called it my universal bank account (UBA from here on).
He didn’t explain much about it but it felt extremely encouraging! The truth of it has unfolded beautifully over the years, and the idea has been very much alive in me lately. I have shared it with all my coaching clients and I know it has blessed many of them. So here goes…
Your regular bank account is merely a snapshot of your process; a temporary circumstance. Your UBA is a state of mind; a state of consciousness. As Mike Todd (Elizabeth Taylor husband #3 of 7) said, “I have been broke many times, but I have never been poor.”
On a purely mundane level, your UBA contains everything that contributes to your marketability. This includes your skills, talents and knowledge, your good intentions, your competence in carrying those intentions out, your willingness and desire to serve and to grow, all the tools in your professional toolbelt, and all the people who encourage and support you.
On a deeper level, your UBA also includes your ability to remember your own wholeness, your worth, your knowing that you are more than enough. It includes your level of self-awareness, your ability to give AND TO RECEIVE, your capacity to experience and to express love, joy and peace, and all the tools in your spiritual toolbelt.
And on the deepest level, your UBA is anchored by your Innate Intelligence, and all its unlimited power, wisdom, and love.
Just as I have with my clients, I recommend that you write down all the things that make up your UBA. You can add to the list all the time, but in the meantime, it would be great to read it daily.
It is wonderful to have a UBA, but even greater to be aware of it and to know what is in it. Then you can use it. You can access it in those moments of lack, doubt, overwhelm, hopelessness, anxiety or simply getting triggered over perceived threats (just in case any of those arise in the future).
Most of the mechanisms we display that take us to Scare-City are in reaction to some perceived threat. So, it really helps us in those moments to be able to take stock and access our bigness and our more-than-enough-ness.
Your UBA can help not only when your regular bank account looks bleak, but also when your physical or emotional bank account is tapped out.
In addition, your UBA can help with your tendency to compare yourself to others, or to where you think you “should” be. By virtue of your Innate Intelligence, your UBA is just as vast and unlimited as anyone else’s.
The UBA is really a reflection of your abundance cx, and it provides a powerful way to grow that consciousness. This is incredibly helpful if you want to unfold more material abundance in your life.
In our case, nurturing our UBA ultimately has led to our most lucrative years, even in “retirement.”
As I said, you can make deposits into your UBA all the time. Please remember that you do so every single time you realize that you are heading back to Scare-City and choose instead to do the A-Bun-Dance.
Better yet, you can make withdrawals from the UBA all the time too, 24/7. And, unlike your regular bank account, no matter how many withdrawals you make, there is never any less in there. In fact, every time you withdraw from your UBA and increase your awareness of it, there is more in it than there was before.
Stew on that, and I will see you next time.
(We’ve gone back to sharing everything we do on a “love offering/whatever-your-heart-dictates” basis, just as we did with the box-on-the-wall system in our chiropractic practice. So if you enjoy these, consider giving love offering!)

I needed this, Stew! This came at the right time for me.
I have some catching up to do! Looking forward to it...I really enjoyed book 1
